The Egypt national football team completed its training in the Canadian city of Vancouver on Monday morning, in preparation for its match against the New Zealand national team at 4:00 am on Monday, June 22, in the 2026 World Cup. All 26 players participated in the training session, as part of the preparations to face the New Zealand national team, at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver. The match between the Pharaohs and New Zealand will be refereed by Emirati referee Omar Ali, assisted by Mohammed Al-Hammadi, Taleb Al-Marri, and fourth official Kevin Ortega. Hossam Hassan, the technical director of the Egypt national team, confirmed that the team had studied the New Zealand national team well before the match, emphasizing that the players' condition would be the deciding factor in the match. He added that the opponent is a strong team, emphasizing that any team that reaches the World Cup has the capabilities that qualify it, and we respect it. Since the World Cup draw, we know that we are in a difficult group, and we have prepared all the players to play each match as a separate championship, and although we achieved a positive result against Belgium in the first round, the match against New Zealand will be crucial in our World Cup campaign. The Egypt national team is in Group G, which includes Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran, where the Egypt national team earned its first point in the World Cup after drawing with Belgium (1-1), while New Zealand drew with Iran (2-2).
