Tottenham Hotspur have officially signed Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. The deal is structured as a season-long loan with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer, as announced by the Premier League club last Thursday.
The guaranteed permanent fee is set at £50 million, with potential add-ons worth up to a further £10 million linked to performance-related targets. Marmoush, aged 27, is a key figure for the Egypt national team that reached the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The transfer to Tottenham comes after two contrasting seasons for Omar Marmoush at Manchester City. He impressed during his debut 2024-25 campaign but found consistent playing time hard to come by last season amid fierce competition in Pep Guardiola's squad. Marmoush scored only three goals in 21 Premier League appearances last term, a sharp decline from his initial impact at the Etihad Stadium.
"It feels amazing to be here. I'm so excited to get started with the team and I can't wait to meet the fans," Marmoush said in an official statement. The Egyptian forward added: "I've spoken with the head coach Roberto De Zerbi, I loved what he had to say and I'm sure our passion for the game will go very well together."
De Zerbi, who took over at Spurs in March and helped them avoid relegation, is keen to add firepower to a rebuilt squad. Tottenham have already invested around £237 million in midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes plus defender Jan Paul van Hecke. The club also signed Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City in another significant deal.
Marmoush's versatility, allowing him to play centrally or from the left wing, provides De Zerbi with tactical flexibility. The Egyptian international is expected to receive more regular playing opportunities at Tottenham compared to his situation at City, where he competed for a starting spot with established stars like Erling Haaland.
This club transfer occurs as the Egypt national team sits second in their World Cup qualifying group, having collected five points from three matches with one win and two draws. The team has scored five goals and conceded three in these qualifiers, giving them a +2 goal difference. Detailed group standings can be followed on our standings page.
Egypt's last result was a 3-2 defeat to Argentina on July 7, 2026. Their form across the last five matches shows one win, three draws, and one loss. Upcoming fixtures for the national side can be viewed on our fixtures schedule.
Tottenham desperately need more attacking quality after two difficult seasons that saw them finish 17th in the Premier League. They began the current campaign with a heavy 3-0 defeat at Brentford in their opening match. Their next game is at home against Newcastle United.
For the Egypt national team, Marmoush's move to a club where he should play regularly ensures he maintains fitness and continues his development, which is vital with World Cup qualifying ongoing. Alongside Mohamed Salah, Marmoush represents a key component of the Pharaohs' attack. The current national team squad can be viewed on our squad page.
